BRUGG 2016

The 9th running of the Brugg 6/12/24 hour road races were held with probably the best weather conditions ever, sunny but not too warm, no wind, no rain, just ideal for the Ultrarunners.

The 24 hour race was dominated by Kenji Okiyama (JPN) with William Sichel (SCO) and Jan Hanousek (sen) (CZE), battling for second place.

The ladies 24 hour was a much closer affair with Claudia Krantz (GER) heading Galit Birenboim-Navon (ISL)

This year was the SWISS 12 HOUR CHAMPIONCHIPS and won by Samuel Wings and

Gabriele Werthmüller.

The 6 Hour races were dominated by the ever popular “Fatton’s”, with Julia dominating the women’s race, but Christian winning a very close race with Daniel Raum by a mere 489metres.

The relays were a great success and great to see so many children taking part, and combined with many sponsored runners, adding to the wonderful atmosphere of the whole event, and raising a lot of money for the charity.

As Race Director my job was made very easy, as the behaviour of the athletes and crew was exceptional. The Chip recording team provided all data to their usual superb standard. The refreshments team, under Dorothea’s hard work and direction, kept all fed and watered.

The DJ and Master of Ceremonies Tom Eller provided a continual update to both Athletes, Crews and Spectators alike, adding to the very “runner first” mantra of the event.

Fredi and Dorothea plus their small band of helpers wish to thank all the runners and their crews for such wonderful performances, and hope to see them all next year.

Next year will be the 10th BRUGG and include the Swiss 24 hour Championships, so we hope many will return to celebrate this anniversary.
